North Platte is widely known as the home of Buffalo Bill Cody.  He called Nebraska as his paradise home for good reason. With all the tall prairies, beautiful sand dunes, and the refreshing reservoir, this is an ideal place for you to pitch in your own tent or enjoy a delightful camping experience in your RV.  

The town of North Platte located at the confluence of the North and South Platte Rivers.   You will find a variety of fun activities where you can compete with the water, such as swimming, fishing, and canoeing, kayaking, and other activities.

For even more fun, it is not far from the famous Lake Mc Conaughy.

Holiday RV Park

The best-rated campground in North Platte. This beautiful little campground with easy access to I-80 has lots to offer you. Holiday RV Park offers pull-throughs under the very large shady trees that add to the serenity of your stay.

The place is well kept clean and tidy and a good stop for an overnighter. This campground features 100 large campsites with grass, shade, and pull-throughs. Each has full 30/50 amp hookups for the RV’s and trailers.

Tent campers can also enjoy the large shady sites.

Holiday RV Park has a pool to relax in and additional amenities. The best diners that are very close by if you would like to eat out.

I-80 Lakeside Campground 

A very well placed campground on the private small lake has all that a camper is really looking for. In fact, this is one of our favorite campgrounds and is an amazing value. We have written a whole review of I 80 Lakeside here.

I 80 Lakeside features 89 sites with full water, sewer, 30/ 50 amp electric supply at each RV site. The site offers both back in and pull-through and can fit any size RV. The property also has tent camping spots near the lake.

You can also visit on a day-use pass and enjoy their facilities such as fishing, swimming, sand volleyball and so on. 

The campground is also equipped with a convenience store for buying in some fishing supplies or quick snacks or drinks. The campground also provides the non -motorized watercraft which is exclusive to I-80 in the lake.

Buffalo Bill Ranch State Recreation Area

Buffalo Bill Ranch State Recreation Area offers an interesting camping and hiking spot. Located very close to the Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park, you have a view of the ranch house. (One of the things we named in the best things to do in North Platte)

The Buffalo Bill Ranch State Recreation Area has publicly managed campgrounds and RV parks. They offer 23 camping pads with 50 amp hookups. Of these 18 pads offer 30 am electric only, so double check your electrical needs before booking. You can also choose to tent camp at some of the tent campsites.

This place offers several hiking trails in the Buffalo Bill Ranch State Recreation Area.

Lake Maloney State Recreation Area

A truly delightful place, just 6 miles south of North Platte. Lake Maloney State Recreation Area has camping on the sides of the lake with many fun-filled activities like fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, and picnicking. 

The massive 1000 acres spread across to give the campers a good spot to experience the wildlife and nature to its best.

The campground has 56 single family RV campsites that have 50 amp electric hookups. Each campsite comes with a table, ring fire, and grate.  In addition, 200 non-pad sites with no electricity are available for primitive camping.

The campsite also provides other facilities such as coin-operated showers, dump stations, water, two boot camps, and a vault toilet.The sites are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Cody Park 

A picturesque place that is located on North Highway 83 in the main park in the City of North Platte. With 40 hard-surfaced camping pads and primitive pull-through sites, this place is just great for overnight camping. 

40 hard surface campsites are available. NO hookups are available so you will be camping without water, sewer, or electricity. The park is well maintained, beautifully laid out, and has so much to offer. 

You can enjoy this City Park with an unusual drive-through zoo, tennis courts, 3 large playgrounds, amusement rides and ice cream stand.


Fort Kearny State Recreation Area

Fort Kearny State Recreation Area offers 186 acres that is surrounded by small lakes. This place is the home to the world’s largest concentration of migrant sandhill cranes and waterfowl that gather during the spring season. 

The Fort Kearny State Recreation Area offers many facilities like camping, showers, dump and fill stations, drinking water, picnic tables, and grills.

You can enjoy the shady camping areas under the age-old trees. Sites have full hookups, electric onlly, and base camping facilities. With two campgrounds, one on the east and the west, you can enjoy both primitive and modern camping.

CB’s Hideaway 

A fully equipped family-friendly campground. CB’s Hideaway is ideally located at the inlet at Lake Maloney. The 35 campsites are shady and quiet, with a lake view.

The campground offers full hookup for RV’s and also tent site camping.

The campsites are equipped with 50 amp electric and also comes with other facilities like a grill, fire gates, and laundry . Your family will enjoy the shady trees and a playground for kids. 


Lincoln Highway RV Park

Lincoln Highway RV Park is owned and operated by locals, Louie and Daniel Herrick for more than 20 years. They strie to provide the best camping experience in North Platte.

This place is ideally located on Highway 30 on the west edge of North Platte. They offer 25 extra-large pull-through RV pads with 30/50 amp electrical hookups.  

You can enjoy many activities like boating, fishing, sandy beaches, and swimming. You can even camp on the sand and wake to the sunrise.

The camp host is super friendly, and kids can enjoy the real nature with ample wildlife in their natural habitat. The Last Chance Bar and Grill is located onsite to grab a hot fresh meal.

Oregon Trail Mobile Estate 

This campground, located in Sutherland, is a quiet park in a rural setting. This unique campground is located on the historic Oregon Trail and highlights the history of the area.

You can stay in the most relaxed areas under the shady trees. Each of the 17 units features 50and 30 amp electric service for your RV. It also has the 30×70 ft pull-through space.

If you a water lover, then this place has it all with a day to spend by the lakeside. It is a highly secluded and quiet place to regenerate yourself.

Sutherland State Recreation Area

The Sutherland State Recreation Area covers 3,000 acres around the lake. It is beautifully located 3 miles south of the Interstate 80. A truly scenic place with lots of water sports to try on can be one choice that you can look for to camp outside. 

This area was developed and set up as part of the hydropower system project and has lots to offer for the campers. With Primitive campsites located on the east and west side of the lake, you can relax with the healing and calming sound of the lakes. 

The camping site offers 50 pad sites and 35 non pad sites without electricity. A park entry permit is required, and it can be purchased at the park, or even online reservation can be done. This campsite has plenty of fishing to offer anglers, boat ramps and water sports options, hunting and even swimming.
