Waking up in the chilly morning with a hot cup of coffee never feels quite as good as it does when you’re camping. Cozy Campground along the Creek in Bridget Teton National Forest

Fall is migration season – not just for RVers but for many animals moving to the valley floor.  We pick the Tetons as one of the best places to camp in the Fall because animals are abundant and crowds nonexistent. You will have a delightful, relaxed time.

We spent a week here in the end of August for the solar eclipse and I can say I would stay the whole month of September if I could.

The Tetons are huge, and you can choose from campgrounds right along the highway like Kozy.  However, if you want to venture further from the main road, Granite Creek campground is an amazing choice.  Plus, you can take a dip in the hot springs.

Pro tip:  You can acutally see the sea lions basking in the sun from the overlook on the highway if you don’t want to spend the time and money (and stairs) to go to the caves.

Fall in Pennsylvania is a sight to behold. Pine Creek Gorge is known as the Grand Canyon of the East. From the top of the canyon, over 800ft up, you have a bird’s eye view of the glacial creek that carved it’s way through the Allegheny Plateau hundreds of years ago.

The biking trails are extremely smooth since they’re made of crushed, compacted limestone. Hiking trails during the fall are simply gorgeous, and are made for every level of outdoorsman with benches along the way. You can hike along the gorge on the Turkey Path to see the beautiful waterfall, then further down the canyon on the 62-mile Pine Creek Trail if you’re extra ambitious.

Final Thoughts about RV Camping Destinations in September

The limits for RV camping are endless in the US. There are so many options and different sites to see, you’ll never run out of places to go. October is the prime time for camping later in the year. The weather is just right, not too hot or cold, the foliage has just changed colors making for picturesque scenery, and the smells and feels of fall are hard to beat.

CEO of ARVC, Paul Bambel, said, “Autumn used to be a quiet, slow period in the country’s parks, but things have changed. Although fewer campers are traveling, park operators have discovered they can sometimes fill their campsites and cabins to capacity if they provide enough activities.”

More and more RV campers are realizing that you don’t have to travel far from the campsite to find something exciting and fun for the whole family. Campsites in Septemer are offering many more activities than ever before, like apple picking, harvest festivals, fishing derbies and much more.
